Historical note:The title NINET-FIFTH refers to the 95th Psalm in the Bible. This tune and other tunes like it were associated with the metrical psalm tradition in which rhymed, metrical paraphrases of the Psalms were sung to simple tunes such that usually each Psalm had its own tune. This is the tune that was sung to the 95th Psalm. See Singing School.

TALLIS' CANON is unique in that it is actually a CANON. When sung in 4 voice parts it is a beautiful example of contrapuntal writing.
