This work by Arnold Schoenberg was composed in 1913 and is part of a set of six pieces for piano titled, Sechs Kleine Klavierstücke, op. 19, or 'Six Little Piano Pieces'. Stylistically, the pieces are examples of 20th Century atonality demonstrating characteristics of expressionism.
