Theory Tests: The NAMTA Theory Tests will be held
in the Wilson Music Building at Belmont University on Saturday, February
4, 2012. Preliminary to the Performance Auditions (see below), the
Theory Tests are a PREREQUISITE to the Performance Auditions for students
who wish to participate in the TMTA state auditions in June. Participants
have to have a COMBINED score of 70 to be eligible for the state auditions.
Eight levels/sections. Students choose any FOUR sections and teachers
choose the levels. The Theory Chair is Vicki King. The Theory Tests
application is available online HERE.

The deadline for submitting the Theory Tests applications: postmarked
by January 7, 2012.
In addition to the fee for the Theory Tests, teachers should ALSO
include the fee for the Performance Auditions. A single CHECK for
the teacher's ENTIRE studio taking the Theory Tests and Performance
auditions should be included with the Theory Test Application forms
and mailed to Vicki King (see address above). Also, see the

Performance Auditions. The Performance Auditions
will be held in the Wilson Music Building at Belmont University on
Saturday, March 10, 2012 beginning at 8:00 am. The co-chairs of the
Performance Auditions committe are Beth Cormier, Barbara Hildebrand,
and Dan Landes. The Performance Auditions are specifically a NAMTA
event. If an applicant wishes to participate in the TMTA state auditions
in June, they have to pass the Theory Tests (see above) and make a
Superior rating on their Performance Audition. All levels K - 12 are
eligible by grade.Those who pass the Theory Tests and get a superior
rating for the Performance Audition are eligible for three things:
(1) can play in the YAAA, (2) can participate in the state auditions,
(3) can play in the NAMTA Honors Recital in the Spring.

Winterfest: An opportunity for area students to
perform one or two memorized pieces in a noncompetitive setting. This
year the event is scheduled at the Blair School of Music on February
18, 2012. See Guidelines and General Information about WinterFest
in the current NAMTA directory on p. 16. Questions about WinterFest
should be directed to ChiHee Hwang. See the NAMTA Directory.
The application for the WinterFest will be available online later
this fall.
Pianorama: Held in odd years, Pianorama showcases
approx. 200 young pianists and 25 teachers performing in piano ensembles
under the direction of a skilled conductor. The students are from
the studios of NAMTA and the Piano Guild. Funds raised through participation
in this event are used to support the Young Artists Achievement Awards
(YAAA) -- see above.

The application deadline for Pianorama is Friday, September 30, 2011.
Honors Recitals: Traditionally held at David Lipscomb
University in late April (k-8th grade) and early May (9-12th grade).
Participants must earn a "superior" rating on the Performance
Auditions (see above). Certificates are presented to participants.
Dates for the Honors Recitals will be posted later. Questions should

Young Artists Achievement Awards Competition (YAAA): The
date for the next YAAA event will be October 15-16, 2011. The application
and information about this event is available HERE.
